Rules and Policies

All students will be charged a registration fee. This fee is good from September through August.

Because of our strict student-to-teacher ratio, we limit make-ups to 2 per session. You must currently be an enrolled student to make up a class. No refunds for classes missed, including scheduled holidays. You cannot make up a make-up class.

Parents must notify the school to drop a student from class. Only a written notice via email, regular postal mail, or hand delivered to our front desk will be acceptable.

Please note: you are responsible for payment for your student's classes whether or not your student attends class until the time you notify the staff via written notice. Please do not rely on your student to verbally let us know that he/she will no longer be attending classes. If a student stops coming to class without notification, that student's account will be charged for an additional 30 days. This charge is for holding the student's place in that class instead of offering that place to one of the many on the waiting list.

Boys or girls may wear tucked-in T-shirts and shorts, or leotards for girls. No chewing gum or dangling jewelry. Hair should be pulled neatly and securely away from the face so it stays up for the entire workout. Girls should not wear bows or other large hair ornaments that may cause discomfort during activity. All students should have activity-appropriate footwear during class. Personal items should be left in cubby holes. Jewelry should not be worn during classes — please leave jewelry articles at home. This facility's staff will not be responsible for any items that may be lost or stolen. Be sure your student's personal items are marked with their name.

Be sure your student arrives 5 minutes before (no earlier, please) his/her scheduled class time. Please pick up your student on time, and let us know if you'll be late. Instruct your student to wait inside the building, and escort them from the building to your car. During peak times the parking lot is crowded — please drive slowly and carefully, and don't let your student run to and from your car on their own.

ENA reserves the right to use photographs and videos taken at ENA Gymnastics, Paramus, NJ for media purposes — including but not limited to print, television, radio, and online advertising. If you do not wish to have your child's image used by ENA Gymnastics for media, please inform the front desk of your withdrawal from the media policy.

Inclement Weather Closings

If weather conditions warrant an unscheduled closing, this information will be on our answering machine — reach it by dialing 201-262-6244. Our website will also be updated. We constantly update both our answering machine and website on days where there may be a weather issue. If we have your email address on file, we'll also send an email advising you if we're going to close due to weather conditions. If you're not sure whether we'll be closed, call us — the message is always current.

If ENA cancels because of weather conditions, students may schedule a make-up class in any class where there is an opening. This make-up must be scheduled in advance and after ENA has closed for inclement weather.

This policy only applies to closings by ENA. If you have any doubt as to whether or not we're open, just call — the answering machine is always up to date.

ENA Gymnastics is committed to protecting the health of its athletes and providing a safe training environment. Gymnastics carries a risk of concussion, so ENA has adopted this protocol for all athletes participating in classes, practices, camps, clinics, open gym, private lessons, and competitions or events hosted at the facility. This protocol is based on the USA Gymnastics Member Club Sample Concussion Policy Template.

What Is a Concussion?

A sport-related concussion is a traumatic brain injury caused by forces transmitted to the brain from a direct blow to the head, neck, or body. Signs and symptoms may appear immediately or may develop over minutes or hours. A concussion may occur with or without loss of consciousness, and standard imaging may be normal. Only a qualified healthcare professional may diagnose or medically clear an athlete with a suspected concussion — ENA coaches and staff do not diagnose concussions.

Education

Before participation and annually thereafter, athletes and parents or guardians of minor athletes will receive concussion education and an opportunity to ask questions, and will sign an acknowledgment confirming they received and reviewed the information. Coaches involved in athlete health and safety decisions complete concussion education before coaching and annually thereafter.

Recognition and Response

If a concussion is suspected, the coach will immediately stop the athlete's training or competition, remove the athlete from participation, notify ENA management, and monitor the athlete until a parent, guardian, authorized adult, or emergency medical personnel takes responsibility. ENA policy is no same-day return — an athlete removed for a suspected concussion may not return to gymnastics or another athletic activity that day and must be evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional.

Common signs and symptoms include:

• Headache or pressure in the head
• Dizziness, nausea, vomiting, or balance problems
• Blurred or double vision, or sensitivity to light or noise
• Confusion, memory difficulty, slow answers, or trouble concentrating
• Dazed appearance, unusual behavior, poor coordination, or unusual fatigue
• Feeling foggy, groggy, sluggish, or "not right"
• Loss of consciousness, even briefly

Emergency Action

ENA will call 911 and activate its emergency action plan if any of the following occurs after a suspected head injury: severe or worsening headache; weakness or numbness in the arms or legs; repeated vomiting; slurred speech; neck pain or tenderness; loss of vision or double vision; seizure or convulsions; increasing agitation, combativeness, or confusion; loss of consciousness or a deteriorating level of consciousness; or a visible deformity of the skull or any rapidly worsening condition. If a neck or spine injury is possible, the athlete will not be moved except to protect life, must remain under adult observation, and must not drive home. For a minor, the parent or guardian will be notified promptly.

Return to School and Gymnastics

Recovery and return timelines vary by athlete and may take longer for children and adolescents. Before gymnastics-specific activity begins, ENA must receive written authorization from a physician or medically qualified designee experienced in concussion management. The athlete must then complete an individualized, supervised, stepwise return-to-gymnastics progression, with each step generally lasting at least 24 hours: light aerobic activity with no inversion, impact, tumbling, or apparatus skills; gradual reintroduction of controlled inversion; gradual reintroduction of familiar flipping skills; gradual reintroduction of familiar twisting skills; familiar advanced skills, routine parts, dismounts, and normal landing demands (no competition); full training after any additional written clearance required; and finally return to competition after successful full training and satisfaction of all medical instructions. The coach will limit repetitions and complexity and will not introduce new skills during the progression.

Limiting Exposure to Head Trauma

ENA helps provide a safe environment by requiring appropriate progressions before an athlete attempts a new skill, using proper mats and equipment setup, using qualified spotters when appropriate, keeping training and landing areas clear to prevent collisions, inspecting and maintaining equipment and matting, and managing fatigue, repetitions, readiness, and training load.

Refund Policy

Gymnastics Classes — once a session has started, cash, check, or credit card refunds will not be issued. In-house credits will only be issued prior to the child's 3rd class of the session. Credit will be given from the date we receive written notice; no credit will be given for prior classes. Once the 3rd class has been held, we can no longer issue in-house credits. The annual registration is not refundable. Credits will remain on the account for one year and can be used toward any classes, camps, apparel, or birthday parties. The registration fee is non-transferable.

In the event of a long-term illness or injury (more than two weeks), a doctor's note is required. You will be issued an in-house credit for classes your child is unable to take from the date ENA receives the doctor's note. Credit will not be issued for classes missed prior to ENA's receipt of the note.

In-house credits must be used within one year and are not transferable to other families.

Eastern National Academy makes every effort to safeguard your credit card information. We have been informed that all customer information is encrypted and secured; Eastern National Academy makes no claim on the safeguard offered by our merchant processing company and cannot absolutely guarantee the system will always work as described to us, but feels it is our obligation to disclose this information to our clientele.

Steps in securing credit card numbers: At no time is the credit card number stored locally by Eastern National Academy. Within our database, all credit cards are masked, so only the first digit and last 4 digits of the card display — the remaining digits are hidden. Eastern National Academy's ePayment partner, C&H Financial, provides an additional measure of security by vaulting credit card details: when a family's credit card number is entered and saved, it is immediately transmitted securely (encrypted) to the C&H Financial gateway, which adds it to its vault and returns a Vault ID that replaces the credit card number on the Family Billing Info page. When Eastern National Academy processes an ePayment using a card on file, only the Vault ID is transmitted — no credit card information is sent.

PCI Compliance: Defined by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, this information security standard was created for organizations that handle cardholder information for major debit, credit, prepaid, eCheck, ATM, and POS cards, increasing controls around cardholder data to reduce credit card fraud. Jackrabbit is enrolled in CertifyPCI's program to provide merchants with PCI DSS compliance, mandated by all major credit card associations.

In consideration of permission to use, participate in, and/or observe the activities, today and on all future dates, on the property, facilities and services of Eastern National Academy, Inc. ("ENA"), I, the undersigned, hereby expressly agree on behalf of myself, my spouse (if any), and my minor child(ren) (if any), for today and on all future dates:

1. THAT gymnastics, cheerleading, and any and all other activities conducted at ENA are participation activities and I am fully aware of the risks and hazards involved in and/or arising from my use or presence upon the ENA premises. I HEREBY ASSUME ANY AND ALL RISKS INVOLVED IN OR ARISING FROM MY USE OF OR PRESENCE UPON THE PREMISES, including, without limitation but not limited to, the risks of bodily injury resulting from the negligent or deliberate act of another person, the failure of an apparatus or equipment, or other general negligence, gross negligence, and/or recklessness;
2. THAT there are other gymnastics facilities, gyms, and workout and coaching facilities at which I and/or my minor child could also participate, practice, and be coached in the same activities as are available to me/my minor child at ENA;
3. THAT I/we voluntarily choose to join ENA under no duress and of my/my minor child's own free will;
4. TO RELEASE ENA, and all of its successors, assigns, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, insurers, companies, heirs, and agents (collectively referred to as "Releasees") from, and AGREE NOT TO SUE ANY OR ALL OF THEM, on account of or in connection with any claims, causes of action, injuries, damages, costs, or expenses arising out of my use of or presence upon the premises, including, but not limited to, those claims for bodily injury, whether or not caused by the negligence, gross negligence, recklessness, or other fault of ENA and/or the Releasees;
5. THAT I shall indemnify and hold harmless ENA and the Releasees against all liability or loss, and against all claims or actions based upon or arising out of damage to property or personal injury, including but not limited to death, caused by, or sustained in connection with my and/or my minor child's presence and/or activities on ENA's premises or by conditions created thereby, including, but not limited to, liability, loss, or damage caused primarily or partly by the negligence of ENA or of its officers, agents, employees, or subcontractors, whether such negligence be active or passive, and liability, loss, or damage based upon any violation by ENA of any statute, ordinance, building code, or regulation. This provision includes, but is not limited to, ENA/the Releasees' attorney's fees, and litigation expenses necessary to successfully enforce this indemnification/hold harmless provision. This right to indemnity includes, but is not limited to, all damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees and litigation expenses resulting from or relating to any claims, actions, suits or proceedings in law, equity, or other theory whether in negligence, tort, contract or otherwise asserted against by or against ENA/the Releasees.
6. THIS RELEASE shall be binding upon my heirs, my minor children, my administrators, my executors, my assigns and my legal representatives;
7. TO WAIVE the protection afforded by any statute or law in any jurisdiction whose purpose, substance and/or effect is to provide that a general assumption of the risk, release, and hold harmless shall not extend to claims, material or otherwise, which the person giving the release does not know or suspect to exist at the time of executing the release;
8. THAT, whenever possible, each provision of this Agreement will be interpreted in such manner as to be effective and valid under applicable law, but if any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable in any respect under any applicable law or rule in any jurisdiction, such invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability will not affect any other provision or any other jurisdiction, but this Agreement will be reformed, construed and enforced in such jurisdiction as if such invalid, illegal or unenforceable provisions had never been contained herein.
9. IF I IGNORE THIS AGREEMENT AND FILE SUIT, I WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ATTORNEY FEES AND COURT COSTS INCURRED BY EASTERN NATIONAL ACADEMY, INC. AND THE RELEASEES.
10. I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS AGREEMENT. I UNDERSTAND THAT BY MAKING AND SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, I SURRENDER VALUABLE RIGHTS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, MY RIGHT TO SUE.
